Return to an earlier published version
PostnHost keeps a version each time an article is published. This gives editors a dependable record of what readers could see and a safe way to bring an older version back into the editor.
Versions are not created for every autosave or keystroke. Draft changes continue to save in the editor, while Version History records published moments.
Open Version History
- Open a published article in the CMS.
- Open its article actions and select View History.
The newest entry is marked Published Version. Older entries are numbered in reverse order, so you can follow how the public article changed over time.
Each published entry includes a preview and restore action.
Preview before restoring
Select Preview beside a version to inspect its title, description, and article content without changing the current draft. This is the quickest way to confirm that you have found the right version.
Previewing is especially useful when several versions were published close together or have similar titles.
Restore a version to the draft
- Select Restore beside the version you want.
- Read the confirmation carefully and continue only when you are ready to replace the current draft fields.
- Return to the editor and review the restored title, SEO fields, excerpt, content, slug, and cover-image details.
A restore overwrites the current draft with the selected published version. Save or copy any draft work you still need before continuing.
Publish the restored draft when ready
Restoring does not immediately change the public article. Readers continue to see the current published version while you review the restored draft.
When everything is correct, use Publish New Version. PostnHost publishes the restored draft and adds another entry to Version History, so the complete publishing trail remains available.
